ALADDIN AND THE GLASS SLIPPER

Backstage's Children's Theatre is seeking two actresses for our December 2008 production of "Aladdin and the Glass Slipper".

TO BE CAST:
* Taffeta (age 16 to 30), the girl of the cinders in disguise
* Fairy Godmother, (age 20 to 60), confused, addled, funny
(The male roles of Chintz, Peddler, and Genie have been cast.)

Written and directed by David and Julie Payne ("Monster Under the Bed"), this whimsical musical tale shows what happens when Aladdin and Cinderella meet. In the show, a mysterious peddler befriends a street urchin on the run from a pesky genie who is desperately trying to retrieve his stolen magic lamp. Add to the chase a young girl of the cinders and her forgetful fairy godmother, and you have the makings for a comic, holiday treat the entire family will fall in love with.

Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute comic monologue and 16 bars of a musical theatre song (bring CD accompaniment or sing a capella). Be prepared to cold read from the script and sing from the score. Perusal copies of the script are available from all Summit County Libraries.

Rehearsals for "Aladdin and the Glass Slipper" will begin in October 2008 and are flexible with actors' schedules.

Auditions will be held at the Breckenridge Theatre, 121 S. Ridge Street in Breckenridge, on:

Monday, September 22, 2008
6pm - 8pm

Twelve performances are planned and will play a varied time schedule on the following dates: December 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28. There are double shows on each performance date. All shows are at the Breckenridge Theatre. These are paid positions.

Please call (970) 453-0199 to make an appointment for an audition time or for more information.
