* Volunteer of the Year *
She's played some quiet types in our productions (the Stage Hand in "The Storyman Presents Peter Pan," the dove in "Cinderella," the
Mute in "The Fantasticks," but the contribution Robyn Lerner has made to the Backstage has not gone unnoticed. Whether she's wielding
a paint brush, hauling props and drops to and from Denver, or wrestling pool noodles in the Wal-Mart parking lot (you had to be there),
Robyn has been our reliable go-to-girl to make sure the show "goes on."
Robyn's love for theatre originates from early childhood - and specifically in the world of dance. She's strapped on toe shoes since
age five - that's a whole lot of dance recitals, people. She even has a studio in her house! Robyn is one of the lead instructors at
Alpine Dance Academy where she teaches Ballet and Pointe. She started teaching in her native Arizona where she also got involved with
the local theatre scene, performing in a number of shows from "All I Learned in Kindergarten" to "Victor/Victoria" (where she met her
husband, Jonathan, who was playing in the orchestra). Robyn is relatively new to Summit County and joined the Backstage family almost
from the first day she arrived.
Robyn's been featured in many onstage roles for the Backstage as performer and dancer, but she has been involved with many more
providing technical support. She has painted sets and drops, built hand props, hung curtains and lighting instruments, and generally
has been at the ready whenever someone needs assistance. She loves helping out, giving back to the community, and being a part of this
vibrant theatre for Summit County.
We love that Robyn's a part of the Backstage, too, and we are deeply appreciative of all the ways she makes our shows (and our world) better.
She's always at the ready with a smile or a laugh and has an undiminished enthusiasm for every project she tackles.
Here's to Robyn Lerner for embodying the best of volunteering and making our theatre the gem that it is.
