The Backstage Theatre is Colorado's oldest, year-round live theatre on the Western Slope. It started in
1974 as a small production company known as Rockpile Productions and was incorporated as Summit County's
first non-profit organization in 1976. Shows have been held along the way in local bars, the Breckenridge
Mountain Lodge, the Sterling Building on Ski Hill and Main, the Village at Breckenridge, the Riverwalk Center,
and finally in its current home at the Breckenridge Theatre on Ridge Street in Breckenridge.
In its 35th Season of Celebration, the Backstage Theatre is bringing back some hits from the past including
"The Fantasticks" (opening in June), a new version of the old fashioned melodrama "The Drunkard" (opening in July),
and the recent hit, "Tuesdays with Morrie."
