Seeking Board Members
The Board of Directors for the Backstage Theatre is looking for new members.
Backstage Theatre’s Board of Directors is comprised of up to 15 voting members who establish direction
and policies for the theatre. Serving on the Board of Directors is a non-paid position for an approximate
three-year term. Attendance at meetings, held at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month
(or as determined by the board) is a minimum requirement of board membership. Board meetings typically
last two to three hours.
As a whole board, board members of Backstage Theatre are charged with duties such as, but not limited to:
1. Determining and evaluating theatre goals, policies, fiscal well being, employees,
2. Participating actively in fund-raising for the theatre. Throughout the year, board members
are encouraged to develop prospects for grants and donors of the theatre’s productions while
also soliciting such contributions.
3. Serving on committees of the theatre. Many committees form in the interim between board
meetings, and are often directed to work on a project(s) for presentation to the board at the
following board meeting. Standing committees may include: artistic, communications, executive,
facility, fundraising, governing board, marketing, personnel/compensation, and My Dinner with
the Backstage event committee.
4. Serving as a goodwill ambassador for the theatre within the community by attending theatre
functions and fund-raising events and recognizing those who support the theatre.
