A Dedication

PHILIP B. GOTTLIEB
March 15, 1953 - June 22, 2009

The cast of "The Fantasticks" is deeply saddened by the loss of our very dear friend, father, husband, and colleague "on the boards", Phil Gottlieb.

Phil was an integral member of the Denver theatre community for many years, whether directing, choreographing, singing, dancing, acting, or simply watching from the audience. He performed at venues such as Town20Hall Arts Center, Country Dinner Playhouse, Aurora Fox, and Lakewood Cultural Arts Center. Although he had a variety of different professions and careers in Denver, his true passion was theatre and performing. It is a passion shared by the entire family. His wife, Mary, is an accomplished music director in the Denver metro. His oldest son, Christopher, is an avid musician and played drums for many shows in which the family has been involved. And his youngest son, Matthew, has performed at theatres in the Denver region for over ten years.

Phil's theatrical credits ranged from the smallest community theatres in Colorado and Wyoming all the way to National Tours, Broadway, and prime-time television. He loved his family and included the theatre community among his closest friends. He would do anything for anybody and expect nothing in return.

This production is lovingly dedicated to Phil, to his passion, to his drive, and to his unwavering support of all things theatrical. He would want nothing less than to see the show continue on - and his family and peers to grab that extra bow.

This one's for you, Phil.

"The Fantasticks" is the ground-breaking, romantic musical comedy that still holds the record for longest-running show off-Broadway. Backstage originally presented this production in 1978.

In this stunning new production, the story of Matt and Luisa, their warring fathers, the wall that separates their families, and the mysterious El Gallo who teaches them all that "without a hurt, the heart is hollow" is told with dazzling theatrical polish and panache.

Includes such hits as "Soon It's Gonna Rain", "Never Say No", and the classic "Try to Remember".

See the show that everyone's talking about - featuring a stellar cast and beautiful, live accompaniment of harp and piano.
